Roles & Responsibilities


The KinaTrax Data Processing Team operates on a near 24/7 basis during the professional sports seasons. This job posting is specifically for candidates who are currently available to work remotely on weekend shifts (Sat & Sun) for the duration of the 2024 MLB season, and available to start immediately. Part-time roles have a track record for turning into full-time positions in the future.

The Data Processing Engineer (DPE) will be responsible for ensuring data quality and delivery standards are met for our professional baseball & basketball customers. The immediate responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee motion capture software tools to produce 3D kinematic data from in-game and lab video.
    • Modify key system parameters to optimize data quality
    • Update in game metadata including rosters and player IDs
    • Process data utilizing proprietary KinaTrax software
    • Provide teams reliable and accurate data
    • Communicate and document data processing status to customers.
  • Configure, support and troubleshoot our motion capture systems
    • Perform pre-game video acquisition system checks (servers, drives, cameras, switches)
    • Knowledgeable about network protocols, configuration, and operating systems
    • Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
    • Clearly articulate and document issues with senior management and customers

Key Qualifications

The following qualifications are the basic requirements necessary to successfully perform this role. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training, which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities, would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.

  • Experience with communication platforms (Slack or equivalent)
  • Experience with Google Suite, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.
  • Experience with Documentation/Knowledge Management software or techniques (Notion or equivalent)
  • Proven record of being reliable and accountable for all aspects of their work.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, self-directed, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Confidence to work productively in a pressurized environment and responding directly to external clients/customer

What will set you apart

  • Exposure to Motion Capture technology is very beneficial
  • A background in Biomechanics, Sports Science or related field is preferable
  • Experience working with JSON and XML files and running shell scripts.
  • Basic coding experience will help you get up to speed quickly
  • Experience working in some form of data processing, data quality, quality assurance, is very beneficial
  • Experience working with computer servers, cameras, switches, router and other video equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and software problems and effectively communicating solutions

  • Occasional travel <5% may be required for training, assisting installations, and attending conferences.
